Hey, y’all! It’s a multiple exclamation point day here at TGB! Just this morning, I received my first “Blog Bling,” my first little award. It’s not a Pulitzer or a Webby or a book deal . . . but it’s still pretty cool and I am very proud.
A gal I went to high school with writes a great blog called Mamarific. It’s more than a mommy blog. Her posts are a peek into what life is like for a 40-something woman trying to do it all—raise kids, keep a marriage rolling, work, blog, have a life, fight the frizzies,* and more. Anyway, Jennifer is the one who awarded me this little bit of brag swag. For all those reasons, you should check her out!
While I’m on the subject, go to my blog roll and see some of my other favorite bloggers. Most of them are just regular folks like I am, writing because they love to, because they have something to share, because it’s cheaper than therapy, or just because. I will say my current faves, after Mamarific, are Random Thoughts (amazingly heartfelt writing), Outlaw Mama (funny, poignant, relatable, smart!), Poppa Culture (a dad’s view of the word, all-around good guy [and a Yankee!]), and Chronically Chrissy (a glimpse into the world of life with chronic illness and learning differences). They all contribute to my life in their own ways, mostly by showing me that it’s OK to take a chance and open myself up to whatever reactions the world may have to my writing. That’s a scary place some days!
So thanks, y’all, for welcoming me into the world of blogging, for reading along, and for your support and encouragement. It’s much appreciated.
*She lives in Houston. Y’all know it’s really dang humid down there.
I have always loved me some grammar. I am loving your blog.
Congrats on the much deserved attaboy.
Dave Patten (Random Thoughts)
Very fun! Thank you for your kind words & support! Happy internet stuff is so much better than yucky internet stuff 🙂
